Things To Consider Prior To Visiting

Stress

Even individuals with a positive relationship with the patient can have a negative visit with the patient. Even a slight disagreement can place burden and stress on the patient, and can impact their health.

Emotional burden

Often times individuals see hospice care as their last time to reconcile with the patient. It is important to keep in mind the potential emotional burden this can place upon the patient, and the impact it has on their health.

Is it appropriate?

As is common with a patient in hospice care, friends and family will often choose this time to ask for forgiveness or attempt to reconcile after a feud. Consider the fairness to the patient and the effect it could have on their health.
