W. Erle and Emma White Inpatient Center at Hospice of Wichita Falls
Hospice of Wichita Falls is extremely fortunate to be able to offer one of the few free standing inpatient facilities in the state of Texas. Due to the wonderful community support, we are able to offer our exceptional facility to our patients as an alternative to hospitalization for the control of their symptoms.
The W. Erle and Emma White Inpatient Center at Hospice of Wichita Falls is a beautiful, serene 12 bed facility that is staffed with specially trained RN’s, LVN’s, Hospice Aides, Social Workers, Chaplains, Volunteers, and a Physician who makes daily rounds to ensure the highest quality of care is offered to our patients. The inpatient center provides a peaceful, homelike setting with a private room for each patient. Visitors are welcome 24 hours a day. We recognize that hospice care is more than just caring for the patient but caring for the family as well.
Our center offers comfortable accommodations for a family member or friend who may wish to spend the night. When a patient is transferred to our inpatient facility, we encourage the family to be as involved as they wish with the care but also offer the family the opportunity to just “be family” and not have to do the role of caregiver as well. Our inpatient facility is not a long-term care facility.
There are three levels of care for the center:
1. Short-term symptom management care is for patients with pain or other symptoms that cannot be controlled at home.
2. Respite care is for patients whose caregivers need temporary relief from the physical and emotional demands of 24 hour-a-day patient care. When the need for respite is voiced by a caregiver the team will assist the caregiver in making the arrangements for the respite stay as needed.
3. Supportive care is short-term care for patients who have no care giver or whose caregiver is unable to provide the necessary patient support 24-hours-a-day. This may be a time of transition for a patient who needs 24 hour care such as a nursing home. During the patient’s stay under supportive care the hospice team will work closely with the patient/caregiver to find the options available.
If you are visiting a patient or family member at our Inpatient Center please park in the Inpatient Center parking area which provides easy access to the nurses’ station and patient rooms. Upon entering the Center please stop by the nurses’ station for assistance to your loved one’s room. The parking entrance is located off Raider Dr. across from Rider High School and adjacent to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
